It was a typical Saturday morning, or so I thought. I woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside my window and the sun peeking through my curtains. As I rolled out of bed and began my usual morning routine, I had no idea that today was going to be a day that I would never forget.
As I walked into the kitchen to make myself some breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised to receive some calls and texts from family and friends. Confused, I got another call from my daughter saying “I am here open the door” only to be interrupted by the sound of the doorbell ringing.
I made my way to the front door, dressed and ready to go, and opened it to find my son at my doorstep, grinning from ear to ear. “Happy birthday!” He shouted, as I rudely slammed the door in his face., the tears wouldn’t stop.
I couldn’t believe it! They had all coordinated to surprise me on my birthday, and I was completely caught off guard. We spent the day eating, laughing, and reminiscing about old times, and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday celebration.
As the day came to a close and they began to leave, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for my wonderful children and grandchildren. It was a birthday that I will never forget, and one that I will cherish for years to come.
